03-11-2019
Nancy Pelaez was recognized at the new Fellows induction ceremony of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) meeting on February 16, 2019 in Washington, DC. For the AAAS Section on Education (Q), she was elected and is now serving a 3-year term: first year as chair-elect, second year as chair, and third year as retiring chair through February 20, 2022. Guided by the theme "Envisioning Tomorrow's Earth,” she is working with AAAS staff, Dr. Pat Marsteller, Section Q Chair and Associate Dean for Research at Emory College of Arts and Sciences, and Dr. Susan Rundell Singer, Past Chair of Section Q and Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost at Rollins College, to plan symposia for the 2020 AAAS meeting to be held February 13-16, 2020 in Seattle. The AAAS seeks to "advance science, engineering, and innovation throughout the world for the benefit of all people.” The 2020 Seattle meeting targets doing this by bringing scientists and educators together across the disciplines.
