BIO
I have had a passion for teaching and mentoring students all throughout my career. At Purdue, I currently teach courses in microbiology and genetics. In my previous position, I taught courses in microbiology for health science, industrial microbiology, mammalian cell culture and genetic engineering.
I am interested in many different areas of cell and molecular biology. In my graduate work, I studied RNA polymerase II transcription initiation in the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae . My post-doctoral studies centered on chromatin structure and its link to origin firing in replication. I have conducted structure-function analysis of vacuolar (H+)-ATPases in yeast. Prior to entering undergraduate education on a fulltime basis, I studied horizontal gene transfer among oral microbiota.
